Goodbye and Thank You

I'm an 80's baby. 1982 to be exact. Born at the peak of crazy hair styles, colorful shoulder padded clothes and wonderful music. I was only 4 years old when the Edsa revolution came about. I was too young to understand, too young to attend Ninoy Aquino's funeral, too young to vote.
A gazillion years later, the older, more capable and much wiser me is glued to the tube for Cory's funeral. I could've been there if not for work. I could have been a part of something as fulfilling and as remarkable as paying my last respects to someone who have saved me and many others to the confines of martial law. I was too young to understand then, but I know better now.
Today was yellow shirt day at work. That was the least that we could do to be one with the nation. We'd go to the break room once in a while to check on what's going on, the huge LCD screen glued to the funeral's live feed on channel 2. Kris' eulogy was heart breaking, the songs sung in church were moving. The 4 honor guards that rode the hearse for 9 hours were admirable. Some of the politicians that were present at the private burial were despicable (I'm not stupid not to know that most of them have their own hidden agendas to begin with!) And I would just have to say that a little decency would be appreciated at a time of mourning.
But I digress.
The entire ordeal has made me reflective on what I have done or what I can do as a Filipino. I hope someday I could be a part of something important as this.
The sky has been weeping endlessly for Mrs. Aquino's death. Although she will be missed entirely, her efforts of making our country a better place to live in will linger in our hearts and minds for eternity.

If Filipinos will continue to have the same intensity of commitment & unity that we showed for Cory Aquino, I believe we will be successful in having the change that we want.
AMEN to that. :D
Honestly, I didn't know she died not until I saw a post about her on Bryanboy's site.
aw. everything was just too intense on our side of the planet. i'm just glad she's finally with the love of her life, away from all the hassles of the earth.
